After my recent trip to Vietnam, I returned to Bodmin on St Valentine’s day and was delighted to see how beautifully the restaurant had been decorated by our staff with great attention to fine detail as befits such a romantic occasion.  Unfortunately there was no time to rest after a nearly 30-hour journey, so instead I went straight to work as we had a very busy evening in the restaurant.  Our restaurant was so full that evening that we had to turn away a number of bookings, and we apologise most sincerely to those whom we were unable to accommodate on this occasion.  Next year we will investigate options such as opening up the main function room in order to be able to accommodate more guests.

This February has seen us very busy with quite a few functions (including some late Christmas parties) and a wedding.   We have also taken a number of function bookings for later in the year and into 2018.  We are pleased to welcome back both a number of Masonic lodges and our neighbouring Rotary clubs for their presidential evenings.  Our head chef Fabrice has now produce an impressive list of interesting dishes to enable us to cater for a wide range of functions from budget to luxury.

On 19th February we restarted our Sunday Oriental Buffet, and I am pleased to see that after a couple of weeks it is picking up nicely and we have managed to sell out completely on the last few Sundays.  Now the routine is established, we are going to try to introduce new dishes to the buffet every week or so.

Base on the success of our Chinese New Year celebration and the popularity of our Sunday Oriental Buffet, we initially planned to run Mothering Sunday (26th March) on a similar theme.  As Oriental food is perfect for sharing, and as a large family can sit together sharing a sumptuous meal on a rotating table, this would be perfect for the occasion.  However, feedback from our guests has made it plain that many of you would prefer a more traditional menu, so we are now going to offer both a traditional English menu and our speciality Oriental menu !  Don’t say you are not spoiled for choice  We have just put the finishing touches to both menus, so please take a look and bring your family together to celebrate Mothering Sunday in the Westberry’s unique style.

From among our restaurant guests who dined in February, Emma Morrish is the lucky winner who will receive a free meal on Mothering Sunday.  Many congratulations to Emma and we look forward to welcoming her to our restaurant again.

Looking ahead, our staff have suggested that on Easter Sunday we should run a special one-off Sunday carvery and organise an Easter Egg Hunt in the garden.  Whether you think this is a good or bad idea, do please let us know so we can start planning.  Many thanks in advance and we look forward to hearing from you.
